Other factors to consider...
Consider the Durability
One of the most important factors to consider when choosing wood for your space is durability. If you're looking for a long-lasting option, hardwoods like oak, beech, and walnut are excellent choices. These woods are known for their strength and resistance to wear and tear, making them ideal for high-traffic areas like dining rooms.
Think About the Aesthetic
Each type of wood has its own unique grain pattern and color, which can greatly impact the overall aesthetic of your space. For a warm and inviting look, consider using woods like walnut or the sleek and slender and chunky and sturdy range with walnut or dark oak stain. If you prefer a more modern, lighter and sleek style, woods like oak, beech or ash may be the perfect choice.
Take Maintenance into Account
Some types of wood require more maintenance than others. For example, softwoods like Swedish redwood are more prone to scratches, so they may not be the best choice for areas that see a lot of activity, however are perfect if looked after. On the other hand, hardwoods such as the oak, walnut, ash, sapele and beech that we use, are typically easier to maintain and can be refinished to restore their original beauty.
Consider the Environmental Impact
If sustainability is important to you, consider choosing wood that is sourced from responsibly managed forests. Look for certifications like FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) to ensure that the wood you're using is environmentally friendly. All the timber used at TRL Furniture comes with an FSC certificate and recalimed timber is a great option too, giving old disused timber a new lease of life. Just double check that the area you wish to put the table in, does not have direct sunlight as recalimed timber does not like this!!
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right wood for your space is a decision that should not be taken lightly. Consider factors like durability, aesthetic, maintenance, and environmental impact to make an informed choice. By selecting the perfect wood for your space, you can create a warm and inviting atmosphere that reflects your personal style and values.
